These words were intended to be the guiding principle to open the conversation between John and the patrons of his art installation “AWAKE” at the City Gallery at Waterfront Park in Charleston, South Carolina in the fall of 2014. My fortunate circumstance placed me “Behind the Curtain” where I was assigned tasks as an ”intern” and I made a guerrilla documentary with interviews of his crew and strangers who were reflecting upon the exhibits profound impact upon them. The impact it had on me was very meta and continues to shape my own continued quest to be AWAKE in the things I create and share. Since then my vision has been focused in my own singular quest to find peace and balance and create Evidence of my Existence.
Watching another’s creative journey be grounded in daily harmony with a specific location in nature guided me to discovering and documenting my most precious places on the planet.
The daily Practice of digital art became more elaborate as my thoughts became more concise. I understood as I was creating this series that my imagination was the only limitation to my reality.
Like the creative conversation between The Beatles and The Beach Boys through their artistic endeavors. I began to catalog ideas which were conjured by the profound influence of the show Awake by John Duckworth.
"Create Mayberry" is a way to sum up my intention to be present in strangerland. I want to create the synergy of Mayberry where ever my words are heard.
Hamster Labs took note of my wave abstracts and had the suggestion of “why don’t we make some Serigraphs of your waves?” I obliged with a high five and and a wide smile and We collaborated on my #seaseries. Hemp and recycled cotton tree free paper printed with water based inks and are exclusively @ Practical Art
